Fresh off the announcement of Nicola Formichetti’s leadership, SYKY is all a-go, and have baptized their new disruptive direction with notable drops at London Fashion Week.
16th February 2024 – SYKY will partner with the British Fashion Council for a second year, to co-host “World Collide”, as part of London Fashion Week’s opening activities. The event coincides impactfully with SYKY’s first seismic premieres under Formichetti, who’s energy and luxury repertoire is set to propel that platform forward. The platform will unveil boundary breaking collections by both the acclaimed Hong Kong designer KWK, and the emerging Berlin creative Taskin Goec, available exclusively via SYKY, for their select audience from 16th February, and for the wider public from 1st March.
KWK is a designer who has been iconised for his celebrity creations. His newest drop, in collaboration with SYKY, will see an unprecedented move for the artist, who will recreate these memorable pieces in both physical and digital versions. Debuted live in London, and available on the SYKY platform thereafter, the drop will incorporate 3 x 1:1 and physical and digital twins of his historic designs for Beyonce, Bjork and Karol G. The alliance with KWK sees SYKY continuing to position themselves at the frontier of dual creation, as they welcome and usher in a tangible future of mixed-reality that permeates popular culture.
Taskin Goec is a rising atelier who bridges the tangible and the virtual, and in his noteworthy debut with SYKY, Goec has chosen to frame his collection within a “technological swamp”. Crucially, Goec’s work hasn’t been created directly by him, but rather by an AI model whom he has trained extensively on his previous work and flare. Alongside his centerpiece design, The Bouquet Baseball Cap, available both physically and digitally, Goec has produced a further 7 x 1:1 digital pieces that experiment cleverly with the concept of digitally imagined texture.
Mentored by Formichetti, endorsed by Delahunt and championed by The SYKY passion, these trailblazing digital designers are set to rattle and excite the London Fashion Week audience.
“At SYKY we believe that centering creativity makes emerging technologies more inclusive, accessible, and ultimately exciting. This fashion week we are showcasing brands that beautifully demonstrate the boundless creativity afforded by mixed-reality design. Consumers can support these visionaries by purchasing both physical and digital versions of garments, which can then be translated into whichever world or reality they wish.” – Alice Delahunt, CEO and Founder of The SYKY Collective.
“At SYKY we are spearheading the next level of self-expression through digital and augmented realities, partnering with trailblazers in this space, and providing a platform for them to grow. The work itself sets SYKY apart; these pieces blur the lines of art and luxury fashion. I can’t wait for the world to witness the apotheosis of digital fashion with SYKY at “World’s Collide”” – Nicola Fromichetti, Artistic Director of SYKY.
